PARKINSON'S DISEASE
Parkinson’s disease is a neurological movement disorder.
Common symptoms of Parkinson’s are tremor, slowness of movement, stiff muscles,
unsteady walk and balance and coordination problems.
Parkinson’s disease is a nervous system disease which affects the ability to control movement of the patient . The disease usually starts slowly and then worsens over time. Parkinson’s disease patient shake, have muscle stiffness, and have trouble walking and maintaining balance and coordination. As the disease worsens, the patient may have trouble in talking, sleeping and have mental & memory problems, patients experience behavioral changes and have other symptoms.
Parkinson’s Disease is a syndrome comprising
involuntary tremulous motion, with
lessened muscular power, in parts not in action and even when
supported; with a propensity to bend the trunk forward and to pass
from a walking to a running pace; the senses and the
intellects being uninjured
- Age – 45-65 years.
It is seen that 50% more men than women get Parkinson’s disease and It is most commonly seen in persons 60 years of age and older & up to 10% of patients are diagnosed before age 50.
